How to Play Octordle

You're shown eight grids at once, each with its own secret five-letter word. Every guess you submit is checked against all eight answers simultaneously, and each board reveals its own green, yellow and grey feedback for that guess.

Standard Octordle gives you 13 guesses shared across all eight boards. As with Quordle, solving a board early frees up guesses for the boards that remain, so an efficient opening can make a real difference to how much room you have later.

Some versions of Octordle offer alternate modes with different rules for guess limits or the order boards are revealed in, generally described as 'Rescue' or 'Sequence' variants. These change the pacing of the puzzle but keep the same core mechanic of solving multiple five-letter words with shared colour feedback.

With eight boards active, it's easy to lose track of which letters have been confirmed where. Writing down (or letting a tool track) the confirmed greens, possible yellows and eliminated greys for each board separately is far more reliable than trying to hold it all in your head.

Prioritise guesses that use letters you haven't tried yet, especially early on, since each guess is doing eight times the information-gathering work of a single Wordle guess.
